Herbert Moore Memorial Cup

RULES (Amended Jan 2024)

  1. Format:
    4 Ball Better Ball Stableford played over 18 holes.

  2. Maximum Handicap Index:
    24.0. Play off Yellow Tees.

  3. Handicap Allowance:
    85% of Course Handicap.

  4. Draw:
    First named to be Home pair. It is the responsibility of both pairs to try and make arrangements for the match.

  5. Closing Dates:
    Will be strictly adhered to. If a match has not been completed or a concession agreed, both pairs will be eliminated.

  6. Match Result:
    When a match has been completed, it is the responsibility of the winning pair to notify the Match Secretary of the result.

  7. Winning Criteria:
    The winning pair will be the pair with the highest Better Ball Total Stableford points score after 18 holes.
    In the event of a tie, a card play-off will decide the result (back 9, back 6, back 3, etc.).

  8. Disputes:
    Any disputes to be referred to the Match Secretary, whose decision will be final.

  9. Green Fees:
    Any green fees charged should be divided between the pairs involved.
    Some clubs have granted courtesy of the course for matches played there. Players should check with clubs before their match.

  10. Player Withdrawal:
    If a player has to withdraw for genuine reasons, they can be replaced, provided their pairing has not played a match before the withdrawal.
    The Match Secretary must be informed of any proposed changes before the next match.

  11. Course Closure / Adverse Conditions:
    In the event of partial course closure due to weather or course conditions, teams should agree before teeing off how the match will be played.

Suggested alternatives:

  • (a) Play only the holes that are open, with the result decided on completion of those holes.

  • (b) Play the open holes, then replay available holes to make up 18. These should be played in card order, starting from the first available hole, regardless of stroke index. Any shots received should follow the card order.

  1. Card Play-Off:
    If required, this will be based on the last 9, 6, 3, etc. holes actually played, as per normal procedure.

  2. Final Venue:
    The final will be played at a neutral venue.
    First choice: the home club of the Association Captain (provided none of the finalists are members).
    If that is not possible: the home club of the Association President.
    If neither is suitable, the venue will be decided by the Match Secretary.
