Sixty-two players from The Association and the Ladies Flintshire & Denbighshire Lady Captains played the annual Frank Bass Memorial Trophy at Rhuddlan Golf Club on Monday 20th July. The gently undulating 6,291-yard parkland course, with SSS 70 and par 72 from the yellow tees, and 5,777 yards and par 74 from the red tees, provided an excellent test of golf in warm, sunny conditions.

Haydn Hurst, Immediate Past Captain of Rhuddlan Golf Club, warmly welcomed both the Ladies Flintshire & Denbighshire Past Captains and the Flintshire Golf Captains & Past Captains Association.

Captain John Evans thanked the caterers for an excellent meal and praised the greenkeeper and his staff for presenting the course in outstanding playing condition, despite the extreme weather experienced over the past month.

The Association Captain invited Ann Williams, Captain of the Ladies Flintshire & Denbighshire Lady Captains, to present the prizes.

Birdie twos were recorded by Ray Gayson and Barbara Evans, Brian Hancock and Ann Williams, Alan and Donna Spain, and Doug Lovatt and Denise Parry, who achieved two birdie twos.

Nigel Bingham and Jane Lesley Jones won the Frank Bass Memorial Trophy with 47 points.

Peter Roberts and Lesley Francis were runners-up with 46 points.

Third place went to Mark and Marie Stewart with 45 points, including 25 points on countback.

Fourth place went to Brian Hancock and Ann Williams with 45 points, including 24 points on countback.

Fifth place went to Peter Blenskinsop and Hilary Stockton with 44 points.
