The annual match between FGC&PCA and the Shropshire & Hereford Past Captains Association took place at Old Padeswood Golf Club on Thursday 28th May, with both teams Fielding 20 a side.
The sunny weather called for sun cream, and the course was in excellent condition, making for an enjoyable and well-played match for both sides.
Gary Thomas, President of Old Padeswood GC welcomed us all, and thanked the caterers for a hearty meal,
The Secretary welcomed two Vice Captains to the Association: Eddy Stevens of Prestatyn GC and Ieun Williams of Mold GC, and said he looked forward to their support when they become Captains of their respective clubs.
Our Association Captain, John Evans, thanked everyone who played and announced the result: Shropshire & Hereford Past Captains Association won 6–4.
John Butler, Captain of the Shropshire & Hereford Past Captains, thanked his playing partners for an enjoyable game. He was delighted to reach the par-3 18th green from the tee for the first time in many years at Old Padeswood and rounded off his day by making a birdie. Unfortunately for John, there were no birdie balls.
